On March 11, the Grundy Area FFA had four events:

  1. Envirothon: They placed 1st in the FFA division and will advance to the state competition for the third year in a row, finishing 3rd overall between FFA and Science teams.
  2. Extemporaneous Public Speaking: Grace Emmerich placed 1st at Section and will advance to the District 2 FFA event.
  3. Prepared Public Speaking: Gabby Tellor, a first-time participant and one of the quietest students, placed 3rd in Section.
  4. Parliamentary Procedure: The team placed 3rd in the section, with Grace Emmerich securing 2nd place as chair and Gabby Tellor finishing 9th as a floor member.

On February 21, three students competed in Section 7 Proficiency Judging:

  • Margaret Dockery: Placed 1st in Small Animal Care & Management with her pet-sitting business and advanced to districts.
  • Grace Emmerich: Placed 1st in Ag Education and 3rd in Swine Entrepreneurship.
  • Jessie Henke: Placed 2nd in Beef Placement, narrowly missing 1st with only 2 points behind.

At District Proficiency Judging on March 6, Margaret Dockery won in Small Animal Care & Management and will advance to the state competition, marking a historic achievement for Grundy Area FFA. Grace Emmerich finished 2nd in Ag Education.

For the first time, 4 students will receive their State FFA Degree at the Illinois FFA Convention in June, a prestigious achievement awarded to less than 2% of members annually for their dedication, record-keeping, interviews, and community service.
