What’s Happening in Cosmetology?

Cosmetology senior students are wrapping up hair color theory along with hair color applications. Each student is issued a manikin with four different color quadrants ranging in colors from gray to dark brown. Read more.

Advanced Teaching and Foundations of Teaching has some exciting news moving forward. We are partnering with the University of St. Francis to bring dual credit to the students.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We would like to invite you to attend the Grundy Area Vocational Center Parent Teacher Conferences. The conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 6th from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., and Friday, October 7th, from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Criminal Justice Alumni, Daina Smith with ship

Alumni Alert

A former Coal City High School, and GAVC Criminal Justice student, Daina Smith enlisted in the U. S. Navy after graduation. Daina is a Petty Officer Second Class and is assigned to the Pacific Fleet Destroyer, USS Kidd DG-100. Petty Officer Smith just returned to her home port of Everett, Wa. after a 7 month deployment around the globe.

Mandatory Cosmetology Meeting

The mandatory Cosmetology meeting for incoming students for April 2nd has been canceled. Students and parents will receive the handbook electronically, and the mandatory meeting will be rescheduled for a later date.

Group Paper Purchase Bid

Once again, GAVC is accepting bids for their group paper purchase for FY 21. If interested in more information, please contact Joan Tully at [email protected]. Thank you.
Update: In light of recent events, we are updating information for the group paper purchase bid. We will accept bids electronically up to 1:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15th. We will also accept sealed bids mailed in. The bids will be opened via Zoom at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15th. If you would like to be part of the Zoom meeting, please email Joan Tully and a code will be sent to you 15 minutes prior to the meeting. Electronic bids can also be submitted to Joan at [email protected].

Student Pick-Up

If students need to pick up any items left at the Center, they may stop by GAVC between the hours of 9:00am - 2:00pm Monday, March 16th.
